Chase's Masterpiece Presentation

This is a masterpiece that is difficult that can be explained with my words. It's only something that can be explained the one and only Chase Kelly. But look him up on Youtube at Demented805.

Emilio's Masterpiece Presentation

People look at a normal place out in the street and see it's a normal place. When a skater sees a spot they see it as a challenge. A lot of people see skaters as delinquents and no lives, but they have a great story and gives them their freedom and a way to express themselves.

Rayann's Masterpiece Presentation

Rayann's dog has Epilepsy and has uncontrollable seizures. Her dog is a half Chihuahua and half Pomeranian. She is the only one that can usually calm her dog. No doctors could diagnose her and find medicine to help her dog .

Antonio's Masterpiece Presentation

Antonio got first introduced to racism when her was in Mexico. They wouldn't accept him in schools because he was born in the U.S. Then the same thing happened here when he moved to the U.S. Racism not only happens to "NORMAL" people it also happens to well known people.

Antonio showed us a video about Samuel Eto where they threw a banana at his team mates, also making monkey noises at him, and etc. Another video of Antonio Zambrano where he shot over 15 times.

It has been hard to in high school and the community to be Mexican-American. There is so much racism. Your either own the fields or work in them, Thanks Dr.Preston for this quote. It sucks. This country is said to be the land of opportunity. That saying is full of Sh!t. If your not "AMERICAN". You are frowned upon.

Edwin's Masterpiece

Pictures, drawing and literature have a lot in common. They both have tone, allusion and tells a story. When Edwin sees other people's art work he loves to see it and the imagination they have that they could make with simple tools with a pencil or paint brush.

Maddie's Masterpiece

Maddie was first going to do a presentation about liberal arts. But, then she decided to switch it and go to filming and photography. She told a story Within 3 minutes she show that the moments she has with her friends and her dad. All these where like her tittle. "The moments we take granted".

Leandro's Masterpiece

On his third masterpiece he decided to do in cutting hair. He said it to use it to kill time. But what he really meant was something for him as a hobby. It's not going to be a passion for him but only something he will do just do.

Morgan has ADHD. She started drawing when her sister drew a tulip. She thought it was the coolest thing in the world. When she draws she gets lost in that world of her mind. Got contacted by a real estate company for her to draw them a logo. Now she's drawing a going through putting her finishing touches on that drawings.

Isaiah's and Carlo's Masterpiece presentation

Isaish has been cutting hair for a little under a year. He charges $10 dollars. Made his own Palmade. Was his first time making it. He rated his hair cut an 8 out of 10."I don't give a S#!+ if I mess up. I gave it my all. I'm proud of the hair cut i gave."

For them it's not about making the money. It's about doing what they love to do and never working a day in your life.

Carlo's has been cutting hair since freshman year. He charges $7 dollars. "Using other peoples clippers. I have my own and they are adjusted to the way I cut hair."

Caitlin Griego Presitation

Caitlin's presentation was something else. It was like I got to know her to when she was a little girl to now. In such a short period of time. In just 1:59 seconds she told a whole life story. On how she changed on being someone who was just in high school. To someone who is basically running it, well the activities of course. Great job Caitlin you did amazing.

Different Learning environment

This first two pictures is a different environment then to what we are used to. This is called open source learning. The desk are moved around and not in order. Not a typical high school structured class room. For some people it has worked and for some people it hasn't. For the people that hasn't it's because they don't want to put the effort and time to the class room.

This one on the right is your typical class room structure. It has rows, columns, and is organized. Schools have done this for many ages and don't seem to want to change it. This is a fallacie of "Appeal To Tradition". This works for a lot of people because they have been in this environment for a long time. Both of these environment work in my eye for those who try.

New Masterpiece sneak peak

When you see the first picture you see a beautiful view. Free and just want to stare at it and forget about all your worries. Until you see the second picture.

When you see the second picture you feel closed off from the world and imprisoned. The beautiful view is still there but your closed off from it and feel like you can't watch the beautiful view without thinking your imprisoned.

My Masterpiece

Well my masterpiece as of right now is at a dead end. I'm just not feeling my subject. I can't get up and think about "Oh yeah this this and that" for my masterpiece. So I'm dropping it. I want to think of a new project that will have my interest and not have me pushing it aside. I guess that's what Dr.Preatons class is all about. I'm not sure what will me my next masterpiece project will be but I will be thinking about it throughout this whole week, and I will post about it on here.

Youth vs Wisdom

Teens now a days think that we know everything and we don't need our parents, but its the complete opposite. No matter how much every teen would hate to admit this is that parent could be a huge help and might be the best people to go to for advice. They might not know similar to that situation, but they can relate it to something that happened to them in their 30, 40, 50, etc years they have been on this Earth. And if  you don't have a parent there for you, you always will have an aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa, or teacher eager to help you out in anyway possible. it might sound weird coming for a high school kid, but it's a high school who's been through this, has though about it real hard and talk to people who have gone through this similar experience.

Today

Today i got a hair cut at my good friend Isaiah Borjas house. This is important because I am giving him experience on cutting hair. He is doing this for his masterpiece. This is something he would love to do when he grows up and I am glad I can be a part of his growth as a barber.

Langston Hughes Quotes

Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby.

We Negro writers, just by being black, have been on the blacklist all our lives. Censorship for us begins at the color line.

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.

Langston Hughes Historical events

When Langston Hughes finishes high school he moves with his father. While he is on the train he decides to write a poem. Also as well while in Mexico his father agrees to support him in his education career, but with a career in studying engineering. By his father helping him out with his education he was able to learn more and help him out with his writing.

After joining Columbia university Langston liked Harlem and its goods vibes but did not like the discrimination he was getting at the university and left after just one year at the school. This impacted him because he finally got his first taste of discrimination couldn't support it.

Langston after leaving university got a job on a ship and was able to travel around the world. This gave him a new experience and gave him a chance to see the world.

While living in Washington working at the Wardman Park Hotel was able to meet a very famous poet Vachel Linsay while dinning in the restaurant. He slipped some poems to he and after that he was in touch with editors of Knopf. This was important in his life because it was his very first big break because he was in touch with a very big and good source to for what he wanted to do when he got older.

Langston Hughes first big break was in 1926 when Alfred A. Knopf published his first book of, a poetry collection, named The Weary Blues. This was a very big break for him because it was a lift off on his career. This gave him a lot of experience and big publicity.

I AM

I am Black.
I am a writer.
I am a nephew of an ex-slave owner.
I am an educated man.
I am a man with cancer.

All this helped out Langston Hughes because first of all being black at this time period was very difficult because of racism and segregation. So, with this racism and segregation he was not allowed to published book and poems. Also being nephew of an ex-slave owner gave him a chance of know what it was like in being both cultures as in white and black. Him being educated gave him an opportunity that other black people in his community couldn't get. Also being educated could of inspired other black people in his community and help out and inspire other people in his community. Him having cancer probably inspired him to be more artistic and have more of a thrive to do and finish more works before he died so his legacy could live on forever.

Brave New World Epigraph

Utopias seem to be much more achievable than we formerly believed them to be. Now we find ourselves presented with another alarming question: how do we prevent utopias from coming into existence? …Utopias are possible. Life tends towards the formation of utopias. Perhaps a new century will begin, a century in which intellectuals and the privileged will dream of ways to eliminate utopias and return to a non-utopic society less “perfect” and more free.”

My MODERNIST

I chose James Mercer Langston Hughes because he was the only poet that I knew on the list that I got from Dr.Preston. It was a good thing that he was on there because then I would have been stuck wit this assignment that he gave us. Back to the topic Also I learned a little about him in my history class and it would be easier to talk about him if I get asked what I know about him.

Jiro and I!

I think I have my inner Jiro with public speaking. Speaking in front of people and to people. I am not a shy person. I love meeting new people and getting to know them. As well as talking in front of a semi big audience and just talk. But I would like to get a lot better at that and be able to talk in a front audience with out stuttering and for getting what I am talking about.

I learned something NEW!

Yesterday we talked about the way people walk. If they walk fast then they have a purpose or reason to be some where. When people walk slow they might not have much motivation and don't really care much about getting to there place on time. I tested it out I leaned on a locker and studied people I knew with good grades and some with pretty bad grades. Most of they student with good grades walk faster to classes but still got to class late because they would hangout with friends. Still they walked faster. People with alright grades walked slow to there friend's and walked slow to class because there thought is "I'm already late so why even walk fast to class. I'm already late. Who cares." So people still got to class late with good grade or bad grades but walked to class at different speeds.

It's my BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

Excited for today because it's my birthday. Hopefully everything goes well and it doesn't suck. Parents gave me my present yesterday and it was a car!!!! I've been driving it for a while now but it's finally mine.

My plans for next year

Next year I am only taking three classes at Righetti High School. the three is Stats with Mr. Emerson, AP English and Comp. with Dr. Preston, and Government and Econ with some teacher I do not know. I am also taking A class at Santa Maria High School. The class is Advance Mechanics which is really interesting because it is part of my master piece. I'm trying to get a class or two at Handcock. I still don't know which ones but I'm going to go to there administration one of these days and sign up.

Catcher in the Rye

I have not read this book. I haven't read it because when I read it, it just doesn't catch my attention. When I read it, I get really distracted because I'm not into it. it doesn't catch my attention like the book we read last semester Fahrenheit 451. now that book really caught my attention. Its was interesting and I would read it and wouldn't be able to put it down. So my bad Dr. Preston this book was just not for me.

Student Presitations

Chapter 4: Stadlater and Holden hanging out in the shower room. Like this girl named Jane. Beginging in the book did t criticised Stradlater and later in chapter 4 criticises him a lot more.

Chapter 5: After the steak Holden gets in a snowball fight. Holden Mal and Akeley reside to go to the movies. Akeley tells Holden and Mal about a girl he had sex with last summer with. And talk about his brother and describes him in a way that he hasn't talked about anyone else.

Chapter 6: Holden actually cares for people. And goes on a date with Jane a girl he likes. Fights with Stadlater because he went on a date with Jane. Holden and Stradlater starts to fight throughout this chapter more and more.

Chapter 7: After the fight with Stadlater, Holden goes to Akeley's room and did what Akeley does to him. Holden asked about the religion of Catholicism and then uses the Lord's name in vein. Which shows he didn't really care about that question and said it just to piss off Akeley.

Chapter 8: Walks to the train station after the fight with Stadlater. Has blood on his face with some snow. When he gets to the station this lady sits right next to him instead of in another seat that's open. He starts lying on and on after he gets started .

Chapter 13: When ever he looses something he doesn't really cared about what he looses because he's lost so much he wouldn't mind. Goes to a hotel and goes the elevator and a guy asked him if he wants to have sex with a prostitute. He didn't really think about what he
was doing so he just went with it. He's about to have sex with the prostitute he makes up the most random because he's starting to regret it.

Do females really get treated equally to males

Today i was reading something on the internet about female who are in the same position of work as a male, like CEO of a big company, but the male gets paid millions of dollars but the female only gets paid hundreds of thousands of dollars. Don't get me wrong thats still a lot of money but its just so wrong underpay a female worker in the same position and same line of work and as big of a company but yet they underpay the female work. Supposedly women fought for there right to what males are supposed to have but we still find a way screw them over and discriminate females. For me this is not only sad, but disgusting the way male discriminate and undermined the strength and intelligence women have.

ALL THAT DAVID COPPERFIELD KINDA CRAP

These first to chapters of this book have been pretty interesting. He starts of with a ways that i was not used to hearing when I read. He starts off by saying "CRAP" in the very first sentence of the story. It immediately grasp my attention, which rarely happens with me and a book. This kid, this character is a weird, troubled, defiant, and isolated. He hates everything that everyone does. He even hates and thinks it weird when people are nice to him or someone else. He also doesn't care on what happens to him. He know that he is going to be kicked out of school but he is so used to being kicked out of places and not being in a single place for a long period of time he has gotten used to it.

Catching in the Rye

My first impression on Catching in the Rye was that this book is going to be really weird, troubled, and defiant child who knows he won't stay somewhere for that long so he doesn't really cares that much.

My masterpiece

Well my topics are learning a new languages. because at the moment I am bilingual and I would like to learn one or two more languages. I fell like learning a new language is like getting a little part of the culture. The second topic that I would like to learn about in car. I have always had an interest in cars. I would like to learn the thought process and what goes through to build one. The third and final topic that I had in mind is I have gotten fond into computers. I would like to learn to build and fix them. maybe a computer engineer.

Of these three topics the topic that I would like to do as my future is computer engineering. The other two topic is one so I could learn other tongues and the other one is just so I could get into it as a hobby.

Computer engineering is a discipline that integrates several fields of electrical engineering and computer science required to develop computer hardware and software.[1] Computer engineers usually have training in electronic engineering (or electrical engineering), software design, and hardware-software integration instead of only software engineering or electronic engineering. Computer engineers are involved in many hardware and software aspects of computing, from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers, to circuit design. This field of engineering not only focuses on how computer systems themselves work, but also how they integrate into the larger picture.[2]
Usual tasks involving computer engineers include writing software and firmware for embedded microcontrollers, designing VLSI chips, designing analog sensors, designing mixed signal circuit boards, and designing operating systems. Computer engineers are also suited for robotics research, which relies heavily on using digital systems to control and monitor electrical systems like motors, communications, and sensors.
In many institutions, computer engineering students are allowed to choose areas of in-depth study in their junior and senior year, because the full breadth of knowledge used in the design and application of computers is beyond the scope of an undergraduate degree. Other institutions may require engineering students to complete one year of General Engineering before declaring computer engineering as their primary focus

MUSIC AS LITERATURE

For the thinking if music is not literature, but thinking of it, it tells you stories of the artist that they have went. It could be good and jolly. Or it could he when they went through tough times. Like in rap most of it is time of when someone of there family or friends have past or just crazy that happened to them. So music artist they are basically are like novelist
